Piano & Cello concert

The Friends of Memorial Hall Library are pleased to announce a concert of classical music performed by Deirdre Brenner, pianist, and Ani Kalayjian, cellist. The performance will begin at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. The program will consist of the following pieces:

  • Martinu Variations on a Slovakian Theme
  • Tavener Chant
  • Schumann Three Fantasie Pieces, Op. 73
  • Brahms Sonata in E-minor, Op. 38

Deirdre BrennerPianist, Deirdre Brenner, has performed in concerts throughout the USA, UK, Ireland, and continental Europe. As a musician with a strong interest in chamber music and art song, she has appeared in venues including the Musikverein (Vienna), the National Concert Hall (Dublin), St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. James-Picadilly, and Lauderdale House (London), the Hollywell Music Room (Oxford). As a soloist, she has also performed concertos with the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra (Mozart, K. 488) and the New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra (Schumann). Deirdre earned a BA from Dartmouth College in both Engineering Sciences and Music, and a MMus from the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Ani KalayjianCellist Ani Kalayjian has appeared in concert both as a soloist and chamber musician in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Recent competition success includes winning the Anglo-Czechoslovak Trust competition where she was also granted the Bohuslav Martinu Foundation Prize, and performed in Prague in November 2006. Ms. Kalayjian has just completed her postgraduate diploma at the Royal Northern College of Music as a student of Ralph Kirshbaum. Undergraduate studies were at Mannes College of Music, as a student of Timothy Eddy. She recently made her debut at Columbia University's Miller Theatre performing Saint-Saens concerto with orchestra.

There will be no charge to attend this concert in the library's Memorial Hall.
