Chris Tracey and his wife Kathy are
co-owners of Avant Gardens, a nursery
and landscape design/installation
company in North Dartmouth,
Massachusetts. Kathy manages the
nursery operation while Chris conducts
the installations. Most notably,
Chris is a dry stonemason who
specializes in historical
reconstructions and restorations.
Most recently he completed the
reconstruction of a granite slab bridge
originally built during the 1850s.
The stone bridge crosses the
Paskamansett River adjoining the divided
sides of the historic Kings Highway.
For the upcoming slide presentation
Chris will be discussing the common
process of dry stone walling, from
foundations to caps. Technique and
style will be addressed with particular
attention to structural integrity.
Historic facts and theory will pepper
the discussion. It will end with
an examination of some unique dry stone
structures. Questions are
encouraged.
