Weed by condition and number of circulations. Abridged tapes rarely last beyond 60 circs. Unabridged tapes (esp. Recorded Books) can last 150 circs and beyond.

Replace individual tapes if feasible. Three tapes repaired or replaced and the entire item is weeded.

Optimize shelving and display in the reconfigured first floor

Concentrate purchasing on Books on CD.  Buy very few books on cassette.

Unabridged Our patrons prefer unabridged and our policy is to buy mostly unabridged recordings Recorded Books standing order plan
Abridged Purchase sparingly when selected as "Best of the Year" by standard sources, when they are a selection of the audio online book club, or when a bestseller from PW and an unabridged edition is not yet in print. Add only those gifts that are of current interest, as well as some popular classics.

We do add some abridged versions of very long nonfiction
