Circulating Collection Formats

CD-ROMs

Collection Goal: decrease collection size, as this format has not lived up to its promise. The exception is game CD-ROMS which are popular with teens.

Class as a whole Collect infotainment  and edutainment

Format predominately Windows/DOS, multimedia, or hybrid

Collect in wide area of subjects: history, art, biology, college entrance exams, sports, games, cooking, gardening, movies, crafts, languages, etc.

For adults and YAs

Collect only well reviewed, nonviolent games

Only select items that have received favorable reviews or recommendations

LJ, Family PC,PC World,PC Magazine, Entertainment Weekly,CD-ROM Librarian

Other newspaper and periodical articles

Patron suggestions

Weed by condition

Weed when technology of product is obsolete

Weed titles that are no longer popular (often because the Internet does it better)

Move to less valuable real estate
