Circulating Collection Formats

Large Type

Collection Goal: maintain collection size

Major Subclasses Collecting Guidelines Selection Sources Weeding Guidelines Action Items
Class as a whole Collect both hardcover and paperbacks; many older readers prefer the paperbacks. Collection size should reflect the fact that we no longer lend deposit collections to the smaller libraries in the region. Most large print titles now published at the same time as regular edition, and are listed in our standard reviewing sources

We do have a standing order plan from Recorded Books

Weed by condition and use. Keep collection size static. Offer weeded titles in good condition to senior centers, senior housing complexes, and assisted care facilities as well as Friends' book sale

Evaluate RB standing order plan
Fiction Collect popular titles - bestsellers, mysteries, romances, adventure, some westerns. Collect some classics. Booklist special sections

Patron suggestions

Katz Magazines for Libraries

Other libraries' holdings

Nonfiction Collect small amount of timely, popular nonfiction.
