Collection Goal: reduce collection size as we move to the DVD format

Class as a whole	Collect both feature films and how/to documentaries Although we might like to move to all DVDs, videos are still in demand, so we will maintain the collection, but buy very few new titles Currently charging $1 for video loan	Video Librarian, Entertainment Weekly, Variety, Ingram catalog, LJ Specialized catalogs Online sources Donations	Weed by condition Do not replace	Optimize shelving of free loan videos in back of Reference area
Feature Films	Collect only a few of the most popular films or items that are not available in DVD
Foreign Films	Collect only a few of the most popular films or items that are not available in DVD - esp. French, German, Chinese, Italian, Russian, Hindi
Operas	Maintain representative collection of most well-known operas. Select new versions to fill gaps in collection in DVD
How to, documentaries, TV Productions	Collect travel videos, how-to for subjects for which video instruction is suitable and DVD not available, TV series/programs only in DVD
