About “One Book, One Community” programs
The idea for the One Book community-wide reading program was initiated by the Washington Center for the Book in 1998 as a way to encourage community discussion of a selected book. Since this beginning, libraries across the U.S. have conducted similar programs within their communities. For a list of other One Book projects, past and present, by state, visit the Center for the Book’s web site.
