Hometown Seafoods expects to close their store May 1, 2013 after 20 years in business.

Hometown Seafoods, located at 28 Chestnut Street since 2000, was originally on Barnard Street. It is a family owned and operated business. Owner Gene Marshall and his family will continue to run a fish stall in Gloucester, taking orders online.

In 2008 they got a 23-pound lobster that sold for $135. (FYI: The largest lobster in captivity is at the Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay Harbor. It weighs over 24 pounds and is estimated to be almost 100 years old. http://www.visitmaine.net/lobsters.htm)
