When Dr. Climo lost his job as a psychiatrist, a position he had held for 18 years, he accepted temporary psychiatry jobs around the country.  He wrote ''Psychiatrist on the Road'' using the stories of the patients he treated during his 4 year trek - of course changing names to protect the privacy of his patients.
Anthony Costello, who grew up in Andover, wrote Jericho, the story of 3 people trying to find themselves in ''Jericho'', a fictious town that is really North Andover.  The lake in Jericho is named Lake Cochichewick; the river at it's border is called the Merrimack; It has mill buildings and an airport owned by another town.
