When the Lawrence YWCA decided it no longer wanted to house documents from early female immigrants Andover resident Eartha Dengler, a lover of history, decided the documents were too important to destroy. With them she began the Immigrant City Archives (later renamed the Lawrence History Center). She added materials, especially photos that she collected from other immigrants.
