*Ben Medler graduated from Andover High School, where he was a member of the jazz band, in 1991
Two black Andover residents Charles Brown and Robert Rollings, were members of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the regiment depicted in the movie ''Glory''.


*He studied at Berklee College of Music for 2 years and attended jazz workshops in Portland, Oregon, where he met his wife, Michelle.
