Founded in 1986, CGMI  bought and sold several dot-com companies including AltaVista, Engage, Equilibrium and uBid. In the post dot.com world after 2000, CGMI fought to remain in business and changed its business focus to establishing a network of companies to create an "infrastructure" of shared technologies and content.  In 2003, the company moved to Charlestown.
