George Walter Dawson was born in Andover. Massachusetts, in 1870; he studied at the Massachusetts State Normal School and went on to teach drawing and water-color techniques at the University of Pennsylvania.  
Paul Gallant, a student of Frances Dalton, paints watercolors of landscapes and flowers in plein air - a French term meaning "in the open air".


He painted beautiful watercolors featuring flowers.  His painting of the [[Rose Cottage]] is a "famous" painting.
