Illustrator William H. Foster, 1886 - 1941, works were featured in several magazines including, Saturday Evening Post and Harper's Monthly. He was the editor of two magazines: ''National Sportsman'' and ''Hunting and Fishing''. and a pioneer in the development of skeet shooting. Laterin  life he painted bird dogs. The Purina Top Coverdog of the Year Award is presented in his honor.
Several of Howard Ames Coon's (1890-1997) watercolors hang in Memorial Hall Library, [http://www.mhl.org/art including http://www.mhl.org/art Benjamin Abbot's Homestead Rose Cottage and Ballardvale]. Coon studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and painted both watercolors art oil.
 
His home at 71 Chestnut Street is listed in the National Register of Historic Places in Andover.
