The "First Portrait" of Abraham Lincoln hangs in Memorial Hall. The portrait was done by Charles Alfred Barry in June, 1860 when Lincoln had just been nominated as the Republican candidate for PresidentThe portrait was bequested to the library by George Henry Torr of Andover in 1915.  
Richard Graber was a documentary photographer of Andover.  He had a shop in the Musgrove building and later on Park Street between 1968 and 1988.   His black and white photographs preserve an era on Andover's Main Street in the 1960s and 1970sHe passed away at the age of 72 on January 29, 2007.  


It had been thought that this portrait was no longer in existance until Director Miriam Putnam recognized and identified it in 1947.

Richard Graber was a documentary photographer of Andover. He had a shop in the Musgrove building and later on Park Street between 1968 and 1988. His black and white photographs preserve an era on Andover's Main Street in the 1960s and 1970s. He passed away at the age of 72 on January 29, 2007.
