Merrimack Valley Library Consortium
(MVLC)
The
Merrimack Valley Library Consortium
(MVLC) is an automated library
network that was established in 1982.
The former director of Memorial Hall,
Nancy Jacobson, and the previous
director of MVLC/Assistant Director for
Technology of Memorial Hall, Evelyn Kuo,
took leadership roles in forming MVLC.
Currently, MVLC oversees the automation
and resource-sharing needs of 32
automated libraries and 4 partially
automated libraries in northeastern
Massachusetts. A library user who comes
to any MVLC library and searches the
library catalog, or
searches the library catalog remotely,
has access to information about the
holdings of all 36 member libraries.
MVLC member libraries collectively own
approximately 2.5 million items (645,00
unique titles). Your Memorial Hall
library card is "good" at all MVLC
libraries. In turn, Memorial Hall
Library accepts the library cards issued
by all other MVLC libraries.
A
complete list of MVLC member and
affiliated libraries is available on the
MVLC home page.
