Historical significance:
Built at cost of $35,000 by Henry W. Barnard. J. W. Barnard (died 1899) and son Henry J. Barnard began shoe manufacturing company ca. 1856 in old bank building (demolished 1896). They erected brick building in Barnard's Court - then 2 story wooden building in Barnard's Court ca. 1894.

Barnard also built Greek Revival "Brick Block" #14-16 Main Street, corner of Main and Park Streets 1910 (date stone on building) with pediments, Corinthian columns/pilasters.
