Podcasting
A podcast is an audio file which, when
added to a web site, can be
automatically detected and downloaded to
your computer or digital audio player
(such as an iPod) so you can listen to
it whenever you want.
To get set up, download and install
podcast retriever software (Juice
is a good choice -- you can also use
iTunes), then follow
its instructions to "add" or "subscribe
to" the podcast feeds you're
interested in. (Podcast feeds are
URLs -- ours is
http://www.mhl.org/teens/audio/teens.xml.) You
can then use your software to check those
feeds for new audio files and download
them periodically, or whenever you use
the "Check for new Podcasts" (or
similarly named) function.
For more information, see
Wikipedia's article on Podcasting.
For lists of podcast software and
podcast feeds,
Podcasting News and
Podcast Alley are good resources.
