Winter is for the birds! Explore Birds of North America Online.

Cedar Waxwings populations are on the rise in Massachusetts

Spend a snowy day exploring this rich and dynamic multi-media treasury of ornithological knowledge. Birds of North America Online is technically an ongoing project sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the American Ornitholgist’s Union.  Bird species accounts are being continuously revised by scholars and amateur birders who upload data, sounds, gorgeous high resolution images and video from the field.  Before you head out for a family hike or a backyard bird count this winter use this database to identify some New England winter birds like the fruit-loving Cedar Waxwing (pictured) whose Merrimack Valley Populations are on the rise according to Merrimack Valley Bird Club data.
