Penguin Rescue with The Penguin Lady, Dyan DeNapoli Virtual Program

Saturday, January 23, 2021 - 2:30pm

Learn about the remarkable rescue of 40,000 penguins following the Treasure oil spill (June 23, 2000) in South Africa from someone who was actually there! Dyan deNapoli served as a rehabilitation supervisor during this historic event, which still stands as the largest and most successful animal rescue ever undertaken. Her inspiring and informative talk not only covers this groundbreaking conservation effort – it highlights the importance of teamwork, collaboration, leadership, and community service. This presentation is based on Dyan’s TED talk, The Great Penguin Rescue, which has been viewed nearly 500,000 times on TED.com.

Dyan worked as a penguin biologist at the New England Aquarium for nine years before she began traveling the world as The Penguin Lady. Her mission is to raise awareness and funding to protect endangered penguins. She donates 20% of her fee to penguin conservation. She is a frequent guest expert on radio, podcasts and television in the US and abroad, including CNN and the BBC. She is thrilled to be a regular guest speaker for Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic on their voyages to the Antarctic region.

Register through Zoom. This program is suitable for ages 10 and up.
