Entering grades 6 - 12? Join Teen Summer Reading!

If you're looking to read and win prizes this summer, the Teen Summer Reading Club is for you! Along with the awesome programs we're having this summer - think zombie preparedness, manga drawing, ukulele lessons, a Harry Potter lock-in, and more - we're giving teens in grades 6 - 12 the opportunity to win prizes for reading.

Here are the details: the goal for teens is to read either 5 books or for 10 hours, and complete a log. Grab a reading log at the Teen Room desk. Any kind of published book counts, including graphic novels and audiobooks. Teens to do not have to read books from the library, or books from any particular list. The schools do have required summer reading, and teens are welcome to "double dip" and count their required reading books for our program.

Teens don't have to sign up ahead of time. They officially "sign up" when they turn in their reading log to a teen librarian. Teens just pick up a log at the teen room, fill it out as they read, and after meeting their goal can return their completed log to the teen desk and claim these prizes:

  • 1 free book
  • 1 coupon packet (donated by local businesses: Bertucci’s, Chipotle, Domino’s, McDonald’s)
  • 1 pencil
  • 1 raffle ticket for the grand prize drawings (our grand prizes are things like gift cards, a Kindle Fire, a ukulele, and more!)

If teens continue to read throughout the summer, they can earn an additional grand prize raffle ticket for each additional 5 books or 10 hours that they read.

The first day to collect prize packets is Wednesday, July 5th and the last day to collect them is Thursday, September 14th.

We will draw the winners for the grand prizes on Friday, September 15th.
