This week at the American Library Association's Midwinter Meeting the Youth Media Awards were announced.  Two of the most well known awards for Children's books are the Caldecott Award for Picture Book and the Newbery Award for Fiction.  This year's Caldecott winner is Watercress by Andrea Wang, illustrated by Jason Chin for the most distinguished picture book for children. The last cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera won the Newbery Award for outstanding contribution to children's literature.  In addition author Grace Lin was awarded the Children's Literature Legacy Award for her contributions to children's literature for over 20 years.  Other winners including honor books for these awards and books for teens and young adults are listed on the Youth Media Awards website.  All books can be requested through our catalog and be picked up in person or by contactless Grab and Go appointment.  For more information contact The Children's Room at 978-623-8440 or crcirc@mhl.org.
